Board of Supervisors: On September 4th, the Board of Supervisors was asked to re-confirm their support for 8 Washington and its heights due to the recent qualification of a referendum.  The Board did indeed confirm its support with an 8-3 vote.  We are incredibly grateful to those of you who have shown your support over the past 7 years and have attended countless hearings and written countless letters.

As several supervisors pointed out, nothing about the merits of the projects has changed. 8 Washington is the project of decades of public planning and will revitalize a horribly underused stretch of the waterfront, which is currently cut off from the rest of the city by a fenced-in private club.  The only thing that has changed was a successful, deceptive signature-gathering campaign.  Unfortunately, there will be more battles to come...but we have won every battle to date. We intend to win the war.

Board of Supervisors: On June 12th the Board of Supervisors voted 8-3 in support of the 8 Washington project.

Board of Supervisors Finance Committee: On June 6th the Finance Committee passed the items pertaining to the transaction documents out of Committee.

Board of Supervisors Land Use Committee: On June 4th the Land Use Committee passed the height matters out of Committee.

Port Commission Hearing:  On May 29, 2012 the Port Commission voted unanimously to approve the CEQA findings and the transaction documents.

EIR/CU Appeal Hearing:  On May 15, 2012 at 2pm at City Hall Room 250, the Board of Supervisors voted 8-3 to uphold the EIR certification and Conditional Use approval.

EIR Certification Hearing: The joint Planning/Rec Park Commission voted to certify the EIR and other project approvals on March 22nd at 10am at City Hall Room 250. We would like to thank the more than 60 supporters who attended this long hearing and voiced the benefits of the project.

EIR Comments and Responses Published: On December 22, 2011, the Planning Department published the Comments and Responses which can be viewed here.

General Plan Amendment Initiation:  On December 8th, 2011, the Planning Commission voted to approve the General Plan Amendment Initiation.

Draft EIR Hearing:  The 8 Washington Draft EIR was published on June 15th and can be downloaded here.  The Planning Commission hearing was July 21, 2011.  The public comment period closed August 15, 2011.  For more information, click here.

Seawall Lot 351 Term Sheet:  The San Francisco Port Commission unanimously approved the term sheet for Seawall Lot 351 on September 28, 2010.  The term sheet is now subject to the Board of Supervisors' approval and the project is subject to CEQA review.

We will keep you posted with our next steps in the process.

Again, thank you to all who attended past meetings and public hearings.

Northeast Embarcadero Study: The San Francisco Planning Commission voted on July 8, 2010 in favor of the Northeast Embarcadero Study's planning guidelines.  The Planning Department presented the guidelines to the Port Commission on July 13, 2010 and the 15 month effort and recommendations by the Planning staff was supported by the Port Commission. We would like to thank so many of you who participated in this Study over the past 15 months and who have provided your valuable input in your vision for our City's waterfront.

8 Washington has secured its approvals from the Port of San Francisco, the Planning Commission, the Board of Supervisors and State Lands.  However, construction is delayed due to a referendum which has been placed on the ballot for 2013.  This deceptive campaign undermines 7 years of planning and public process, and while unfortunate, will not derail us.  We will deliver on the promise of an improved waterfront for all!
