The ground floor of 8 Washington is almost entirely public serving uses and public open space.  The project includes approximately 20,000 square feet of ground floor restaurants, cafes and retail space.

These restaurants and cafes would include outdoor sidewalk seating - much of which would front the Embarcadero, further enhancing the streetscape and improving the pedestrian experience and neighborhood vitality and safety. The project also includes a cafes with outdoor seating in the Jackson Commons and Pacific Park, helping to animate and secure the parks and the neighborhood.  Similar to the benefits brought about along the Embarcadero at Piers 1 1/2, 3 & 5, the addition of these restaurants and retail, in combination with the public open space, are a vital component to improving the pedestrian environment along our waterfront.
